Farsi also known as Parsi or Persian is the language spoken in Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan and other neighboring countries. In Tajikistan and Afghanistan, Farsi is referred to as Dari. Prior to British colonization, Persian was also widely used as a second language in the Indian subcontinent; it took prominence as the language of culture and education in several Muslim courts in the subcontinent throughout the middle Ages and became the official court language under the Moghol emperors. Farsi is categorized as Indo-European family and has Subject Object Verb style. Many other languages such as Hindi and Urdu have been influenced by Farsi during years and today, close to one hundred million people speak Farsi world wide. |
